Yeah, yeah. I know. Scoreboard, right? 28-21, right? Well, scoreboard indeed. OU may have beaten Texas this year, but Texas kicks so much permanent ass on OU that comparisons are almost shameful. I'm too busy and lazy to do any exhaustive research, but here's my scoreboard:
- Texas leads the all time series 57-40-5.
- Texas' smoking hot bitches to OU's degenerate sows.
- Stadium capacity. 85,123 v. 82,112. (Their stadium is called Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. I can't make this shit up. Gaylord.)
- Austin v. Norman, seriously.
- A Sooner is a cheater. Seriously, that's what it is. Sooners were people who entered the shitty lands in Oklahoma that even the Indians didn't want illegally before the president opened them to be claimed. It's a documented historical fact.
- Big Bend, Padre Island National Seashore, The Hill Country, Big Thicket, Guadalupe Mountains, Rio Grande Valley versus Lake Texoma, or some shit. And half of that is in Texas.
- Texas has the number 3 deer in the Boone and Crockett all time records for whitetail deer and Oklahoma doesn't even have one in the top 100.
* I've got to cut it short because I'm too busy to continue right now. I'll be updating this list later. Feel free to comment with your additions to the list of how Texas is better than Oklahoma.
Stoops 6.....Mack 3 in Red River Shootout games. Hummm...
OU has SEVEN national championships in Football. UT has 3. ....
OU has 4 big 12 titles....UT....1....They simply have a better football program. You guys hate to look at just the stats...but they are clearly ahead.
I agree Oklahoma as a state sucks.
Now all the UT alums on here can bash me and call me names. I just with Texas had hired Stoops.

Those are funny. Especially the "mobilehoma"....but the knock on Stoops is pure jealousy.

ab, ut has four nat titles.
ou has had a better football team if you start counting from the mid-90's. if you look at the entire history, ut is certainly an equal.
ou's success depends largely on texas players. there is definitely something to be said for using your own to produce success. but i certainly credit them for successful recruiting.
stoops appears to be the superior game coach. but i would still rather have mack.
Posted by: desertboy | October 10, 2007 at 07:10 AM
oh..you are correct.db..63, 69, 70, 05.
i'm not sure how 7 titles to 4 makes things equal, but I'm a Lumberjack...so I guess I don't get UT math.
And the "i'd rather have mack"....WHY????? honestly...why?
You def. can't talk about "quality of the program" in regards to the "type of player" he recruits...after the past couple of years
And finally, Texas kids going to OU is shame on Mack and a feather in Stoops or Switzer's (back in the day) cap.

i'm taking back my donation, ha, ha.
no, i'm not comparing 4 to 7. but honestly, you're just being difficult. the reality is that any division I (or whatever it's called this year) school with four nat titles under its belt can brag. there just aren't that many who can boast that. what i was comparing was the overall series which ut clearly leads. also, ut has more total wins (and just might end up with total overall wins this year or early next depending on the season and notre dame). honestly, ab, just like with the bible, you can really argue many different points depending on the metric used.
look, i'm not trying to argue that stoops or ou is an unworthy rival. quite the opposite. if we thought that they were just plain shitty, then we wouldn't even be wasting our collective breath. i mean, don't you get it? it's because we have respect for them that we enjoy the banter and the competition.
now stop worrying about this and eat more clif bars and bananas!

OU is NOT a worthy rival. They are disobeying physical laws of the universe. This is more of a confounding question of "How the fuck?"
Why, why, why would any athlete from the great state of Texas ever, ever, ever go to Norman, Oklahoma? Granted that now they have a winning tradition and a solid football program, but why did the first ones go? I think it had to do with either cash or lower entrance requirements.

I'm researching family law regarding "fiduciary duties"....so i'm a little bored. When i come up for air..i find this entertaining.
I think we'd all agree that the real metric is "number of national titles".....this is the thing that bugs me about you UT folks. You change the measuring stick to favor yourselves even when you are CLEARLY not as superior as you might think.
The fact that you compared this to the bible is reason for an entire blog post. I know you were being funny. Or I hope you were.
I don't see the UT folks in my office or on here really "enjoying the banter"....i see people bashing OU...and really, really not just looking at the raw facts. Maybe i'm oversimplfying this.
I'd still like to know why you'd rather have Mack....

ab,
i'm most certainly enjoying the banter.
and i'm going to disagree wtih ojo; i do find ou a worthy opponent, from the standpoint of quality of football played. in most other respects, i'd say ojo is correct.
i disagree with you that the "real metric" is national titles. i would say that total wins is pretty important. for one thing, national titles is only really part of division I discussion; are we to just ignore any quality among non-division I programs? since sfa can never truly win a national title (as we are defining them) can we not root for them or scorn them? but if you want to use titles as the major metric, that's fine with me. i'm just going to disagree that it is the only or even the most important one.
clearly i have bias. admitted. but i just get the sense that mack is just a cooler kind of guy. the kind of guy that i would want coaching my son. stoops seems to be the master during the game, but i don't believe that he would foster the same kind of total positive atmosphere that mack does. now, that being said, this is a much more difficult argument this year what with the recent arrests. and maybe mack has gotten lazy. i don't know. but i do like mack and think that he does a good job. i'm sure stoops is good, too. but he ain't coaching the 'horns. so my answer to you is just gut feeling.
don't be so defensive about the bible. it makes you seem guilty.
just kidding.
good luck this weekend.

I'm not comparing just the football programs. It's unfair to compare just the football programs because the they take the entire GDP of their whole shitty state and pour it into the football program so that they can all keep living without jumping off the nearest building because of all of the shittiness. UT is superior to OU in every major way except number of national championships won. It's confounding, really.

I have a theory as to why OU is able to get a lot of our Texas boys. For one thing, scholarship limits prevent Texas from getting everybody; in the end, Texas usually loses 2-5 recruits per year to OU. Why do these 2-5 badasses (AP, Bomar, Malcolm Kelly, etc.) choose OU? WHY!?!?!? Well, my theory is that most badass high school football players are ghetto. Ghetto kids come from nothing and a big part of why they succeed is their "me against the world" mentality. The University of Texas at Austin is a top flight academic institution, in a top flight city, in the top flight state; we've got it all. It ain't us against the world. We ARE the world. So, I imagine that aura is sometimes a turnoff to some ghetto east texas boy. He wants to go play college ball in a "us against the world" environment. OU ain't got shit, so it truly is them against the world. It's stupid, but I understand it.
Fuck the University of Oklahoma and everything associated with it.
